Seattle Attorney, Former Star LW Lineman Marion Larson Dies at 71

A memorial service is on June 23 for the 1958 Lake Washington graduate and expert on health care law.

Seattle attorney and former all-state Lake Washington High School football lineman Marion V. “Mick” Larson died at 71 late last month, the Seattle Times reports.

Larson, who graduated from LW in 1958 and went on to star at Washington State University, also spent countless hours leading youth on camping and hiking trips as a YMCA Indian guide.

"He had the warmest, most caring heart," Scott Larson told the Times about his father, whom the guides nicknamed "Silver Cloud" for his mane of thick, gray hair.

Larson was born March 9, 1940, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of an Army officer. The family settled in Seattle in the 1950s. A University of Washington Law School graduate, Larson was one of three lawyers who wrote six volumes on Washington’s health, welfare and benefit-plan laws.

Larson is survived by his wife Bonnie, his sons Scott, Bruce and Todd and four grandchildren. He died May 31 after a bout of pneumonia.

A private family service has been conducted, but his life will be celebrated at a memorial service at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at the Seattle Tennis Club, 922 McGilvra Blvd. E., Seattle.
