Did you want to make a report
One day last week I woke up to find my car door wide open and went outside to try and figure out why and to close the door. Looking inside I see that my glove box and console are wide open also. I realized I had been car prowled. Because I live alone and have been victimized before I have security cameras recording all that goes on around me.
After playing back the night events I see the two men who not only get into my but my neighbor across the street cars. I call them to let them know and they also find car doors left open.
Of course your next logical move is to call the police. I should mention nothing is missing out of my car or the neighbors... So I called anyway because after all I have these guys on film right? Who knows maybe the neighbors down the street weren't so lucky.
Dialed 911 and was patched over to non emergency spoke to the operator describing what had happened, she said someone would return my call. An officer did call me back and I told him what had happened and that I had it recorded on my DVR. He asked if I could send him a copy of the video I have and I said I wouldn't know how to do that but he could come here to view it. That he may know who these guys are. He asked if anything was stolen and I said no. Then to my surprize he asked if I wanted to make a report. Hello I thought that is what I was doing. He seemed so uninterested in this crime that I had on film. He acted like he could care less about the video or that my car and my neighbors car had been prowled. I was shocked by this. I told him I had a good enough picture of the one guy inside my car that if and he may be able to identify him from that if he knew him. His response was Do you want to make a report?
Not I'll be right over to take a report and view the video. So out of confusion I said I guess not. And that was it he said goodbye and hung up.
His lack of concern and willingness to try and catch these guys was a real shock to me. I was left with the impression that I was wasting his time. Thanks for watching out for me and my neighborhood Kirkland Police Dept.
