Early Morning Crash in Kirkland Under Investigation for DUI

Driver in his twenties had to be cut out of his vehicle after striking parked cars and rolling his rig on its side.

A driver in his twenties is under investigation for driving under the influence after crashing into multiple cars and rolling his own vehicle on its side early Friday morning near downtown Kirkland.

“We had a single occupancy vehicle hit some parked cars and end up on its driver side,” said Kirkland Police Department spokesman Sgt. Rob Saloum. “He was fine, but was transported to the hospital as a precaution. The case is under investigation for DUI.”

The crash occurred near the intersection of 5th Ave. South and State Street at about 2:30 a.m. Saloum said the driver appeared to be in his mid-twenties, but his name has not been released.

KIRO TV news has posted several photos of the scene, and reported that Kirkland firefighters had to cut the top off of the driver’s truck to get him out. See the KIRO report here: http://www.kirotv.com/news/29060475/detail.html.
