Boat Accident on 520 Bridge Sends Two to Hospital, Backs Up Traffic

Authorities say a 35- to 38-foot boat got wedged under the west high rise, causing one lane eastbound to be closed.

A boat became wedged under the west high rise of the State Route 520 floating bridge on Lake Washington Monday night, sending two people to the hospital and backing up eastbound traffic.

Seattle Police reported two people in their 30s were taken from the 35- to 38-foot boat to a local hospital, one with serious injuries.

The incident caused one lane of eastbound 520 to be closed at about 8:30 p.m., as rescuers with Seattle Harbor Patrol responded to the incident.

The Washington Department of Transportation reported it would proceed with plans to to test new tolling equipment.
