Kirkland Police are investigating an armed robbery at a Subway store in north Juanita and a vehicle-pedestrian incident near after a busy morning on Tuesday. The pedestrian suffered a probable broken arm in the accident, but there were no other injuries in either incident.

Meanwhile, one person was injured in a four-car crash on Interstate 405 at NE 116th street that snarled traffic during the Tuesday morning commute.

An unknown man robbed the Subway shop at 13501 100th Avenue in Juanita at about 8:39 a.m. Tuesday, apparently flashing a pistol.

“The suspect went in and and a handgun in his waistband,” said Sgt. Rob Saloum, Kirkland Police Department spokesman. More details were not yet available as police continued to investigate late Monday morning.

The man was wearing a black cap, a scarf over his face, dark sunglasses, a dark colored long-sleeved shirt, and medium colored pants. The clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect who fled on foot to the north.

In the other incident, a pedestrian about 17 years old was struck by a vehicle at about 7:30 a.m. while walking in a crosswalk with two other youths in the 10400 block of NE 132nd St., said Saloum.

“He was taken to Harborview Hospital,” said Saloum. “That investigation is continuing, but it appears the driver will likely be cited. He stated the sun was coming up from the east” and obscured his vision.

Finally, a four-car crash on northbound Interstate 405 near 116th in Kirkland at about 6:30 a.m. backed up traffic for some two miles, with one person taken to Harborview with minor injuries. The Washington State Patrol investigated that crash, which was also handled by the Kirkland Fire Department.
