I drive by there all the time too Martha, live about 2 miles away just off Juanita Drive. I am so glad no one was seriously hurt as well, it could have been so much worse!

I work across the street from the gas station. We called 911 twice after seeing the flames and smoke. It was surprising how long it took for the fire dept. to response! So relieved the station didn't go up in flames and that no one was seriously hurt!!!

The way people drive on Juanita this is not surprising. People really speed on that stretch and I hope Kirkland PD sets more speed traps.

Thanks to the firefighters for quick successful response.

Yes we definetily need more police on finn hill because kirkland, kenmore and k.k sherriff definetily arent enough in our high crime area, jesus watch what you ask for matt u might be the one getting a 250 ticket for 5 mph over theirs an over abundance of police presence in our area as it is..its all about that dollar
Russ January 12, 2013 at 06:58 AM
Cory....well said.
Matt Saavedra January 12, 2013 at 07:14 AM
A little paranoid Cory? Don't speed and you have nothing to worry about. But if you prefer to be at the mercy of idiot drivers that's on you.

We've added a couple more photos from Adam VanGerpen, a Kirkland native and LA firefighter who happened to be on the scene. Also, he says the Kirkland and Northshore firefighters who responded did an outstanding job. More of his pics here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/48795888@N08/sets/72157632498200805/ Thanks Adam!

There were two dogs in the SUV. One ran off. Please anyone near this area be on the lookout for Mandy, a senior black Flat-coated Retriever (looks like a black Golden Retriever). She has a collar, tags and is chipped. Thank you. https://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=10200152083672061&set=a.1155004962539.24669.1450161001&type=1&theater

Mr. Johnston - Any chance you could do a follow up story to let people know that there were two dogs in the SUV and one ran off into the woods? She is friendly but may bark if approached only because she is scared and might be injured.https://www.facebook.com/#!/media/set/?set=pcb.10200190887882142&type=1
