Car Crashes Into House on Finn Hill; Driver Says the Brakes Went Out

A woman and her 9-year-old daughter were in the car when it crashed. The girl suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hosptial. Two occupants of the house were not injured.

Faulty brakes might have been responsible for a car crashing into a house on Finn Hill in Kirkland Wednesday afternoon, in the 14100 block of 84 Avenue NE. There were no serious injuries.

A woman and her 9-year-old daughter were in the car when it went off the road and crashed into the house at about 3:30 p.m. Two occupants were in the house. The 9-year-old girl suffered minor injuries and was taken by an aid car to EvergreenHealth Medical Center in Kirkland.

“The driver claims her brakes failed,” said Kirkland Fire Department Battalion Chief Joe Sanford. “There were at least two occupants in the house. They were on the other side of the house. They were not injured.”

The house sustained serious damage and it is believed the family who lives there had to spend the night elsewhere. But Sanford said a city building inspector examined the damage and cleared it for occupation.

Five Kirkland Fire Department units responded to the crash, including a ladder truck, fire engine, incident command vehicle and two aid cars.
