Elderly Woman Trapped in Car After Driving Off Road

Kirkland firefighters extricated the woman after she lost control and drove deep into the woods across 98th Avenue from Juanita Bay. She was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Kirkland firefighters cut open a car to extricate an elderly woman who drove off of 98th Avenue NE in Juanita Wednesday evening and ended up stuck in a densely wooded area, just across the avenue from Juanita Bay.

It was not known what caused the woman to lose control of her vehicle. She was taken to EvergreenHealth Medical Center with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.

“She went off the road -- we don’t know why -- and went deep into the woods,” Kirkland Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Haschak said Thursday morning. “We had to go into the woods to get her out, and had to cut a path to get in and out."

The crash occurred in the 11400 block of 98th Avenue, just south of Columbia Athletic Club, between 8 and 9 p.m. The car went into the woods on the east side of the road. The woman had to be extricated from the car because it ended up wedged in by the dense woods.

Six KFD units responded, including a fire engine, ladder truck, aid car, command vehicle and two support rigs.

Hopelink's actions mandating Section 8 housing went too far. Sorry, you are off our list ofRead More organizations to support even though the support before was robust. City council listened to organized carpetbaggers and not the citizens they are sworn to represent. All that can be replaced need to go at the next election Hopelink needs to find folks to contribute who have not been done wrong by this organization.
