Original story:
Three people were injured Thursday night when two vehicles collided head-on in the 12800 block of Juanita Drive, closing the major arterial for a short time.
All three involved were taken to EvergreenHeath Medical Center in Kirkland with injuries that were not life-threatening, said Battalion Chief Joe Sanford of the Kirkland Fire Department.
He added that Kirkland police were investigating the crash as a possible case of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
A woman in one of the vehicles veered across the center line and hit an oncoming vehicles with a man and his daughter.
“Fortunately, all three injuries were fairly minor,” said Sanford.
The crash occurred at about 9:30 p.m.
Juanita Drive is a wooded, winding arterial between the Juanita Bay area north to Kenmore, and is known as one of the more accident-prone roads in Kirkland. A bicyclist was hit and killed by a motorist on Juanita Drive in the summer of 2011, and last August, a head-on crash killed a Finn Hill woman and resulted in vehicular homicide charges against another driver.
