Issaquah Man Charged in Kirkland Subway Robbery

King County prosecutors have charged a 30-year-old Issaquah man in the July 7 robbery of a Subway store in Totem Lake.

Police arrested Ryan A. Mashek and two 21-year-old men that same day after witness accounts linked Mashek to a silver Audi that was parked in a nearby Fred Meyer parking lot. The two other men who were in the car have not been charged with a crime.

According to charging documents, Mashek entered the Subway at 11613 124th Ave. NE at around 6:45 p.m. on July 7 wearing a hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses. As he approached the counter, Mashek allegedly pointed a black handgun at a store employee, repeatedly demanding, "give me the money" and "give me the money now."

The employee opened the cash register, and Mashek reached in and grabbed several $5 and $20 bills, the documents state. Witnesses told police they saw him cross the street to an AM/PM and get into a silver Audi A4. One witness followed the vehicle to Fred Meyer and provided police with the license plate number.

After Mashek and the vehicle's two other occupants were arrested, police located a black Beretta Elite II airsoft pistol and $166 in cash inside the vehicle. Charging documents indicate the two witnesses also visually identified Mashek as the man who had robbed the Subway store.

Mashek was convicted of three counts of second-degree robbery in 2008, according to prosecutors. He remains jailed and is set to be arraigned on July 24.
