Juvenile Arrested Downtown for Using Toy Gun in ATM Robbery Attempt

The suspect is from out of state and allegedly tried to force a man to withdraw money from an ATM at Parkplace Center just after midnight Wednesday.

A juvenile male was arrested in downtown Kirkland early Wednesday morning after allegedly using a toy pistol in attempting to force a man to withdraw money from an automatic teller machine at Parkplace Center.

A Redmond Police Department K9 unit tracked the suspect and located the gun, an air soft pistol, and clothing shed as the suspect fled. Kirkland police then took the juvenile into custody, said Sgt. Rob Saloum, Kirkland Police spokesman.

“The suspect came up and demanded this guy take out money from the ATM,” Saloum said. “It happened after midnight, to about 1 a.m. Somebody came up and the suspect took off.”

The juvenile is from out of state, and apparently arrived in the area recently, but Saloum said he did not yet have all the details.

A Redmond Police Department report indicated the suspect was located in the 200 block of Parkplace Center, and Saloum said the robbery attempt occurred near the .
