Kirkland Man Arrested for Assault at Courthouse in Redmond

The following incidents were reported between 6 a.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday.

A 33-year-old Kirkland man was arrested Monday afternoon after he allegedly threw his keys toward the head of his ex-girlfriend, who was filing a protection order against him at the King County Northeast District courthouse in Redmond. The woman ducked and was not injured.

Redmond Police spokesman Jim Bove said the incident began when the man tried to enter the courthouse and began yelling at the woman and telling her to come outside. After he threw the keys, Bove said, officers followed him and told him to stop walking, but he resisted and was subsequently arrested.

Bove said officers searched him and discovered what appeared to be narcotics. The man also had two outstanding warrants—one for DUI and the other for driving with a suspended license.
