Kirkland Man Arrested on Suspicion of Raping Neighbor in Juanita

The 29-year-old man was booked into King County Jail for investigation of first-degree rape and burglary after police were called to an apartment in Juanita Wednesday afternoon.

A 29-year-old Kirkland man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of first-degree rape and burglary after allegedly breaking into the apartment of a female neighbor at a complex in Juanita and assaulting her.

The man was booked into King County Jail in Seattle just after 10 p.m. Wednesday, with bail denied pending his arraignment.

Kirkland Police Department spokesman Lt. Mike Murray confirmed the arrest, which occurred at an apartment complex along Northeast 138th in Juanita. He said police were called at about 3:30 Wednesday afternoon.

Murray declined to provide more details since the case remains under investigation. But he said he did not believe the victim suffered severe injuries beyond the sexual assault.

King County Superior Court records show the man pleaded guilty in 2007 to a charge of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes and he also has a conviction for robbery. His arrests record includes cases of drugs, assault, theft and criminal trespass.
