KPD Investigating Alleged Rape by Two Men at Downtown Restaurant, Web Site Reports

Citing details from a search warrant affidavit, seattlepi.com says Kirkland police recovered a pink bra, shoes and a strand of hair from Amici restaurant.

Kirkland police are investigating an alleged rape of a woman by two men during the early morning hours on Aug. 7 at Amici, a pizza restaurant in Lakeshore Plaza, seattlepi.com is reporting.

The Kirkland Police Department has released few details of the case, issuing a terse press release late on the night of Aug. 7 that did not specify the location. Kirkland police spokesman Sgt. Rob Saloum said Thursday the investigation was continuing and he would have no further comment. No charges have been filed.

But passersby have reported a heavy police presence at the restaurant for much of the day on Aug. 7.

Citing details from a search warrant affidavit filed in King County Superior Court, seattlepi.com reported that police received a call just after 5 a.m. from a crying young woman near the 100 block of Central Way saying she had been raped at a nearby business.

She reportedly told police the assault had been by two men, one older, at an Italian restaurant near a hair salon. According to the affidavit, officers suspect the restaurant was Amici.

"The Officers on-scene could see a pair of shoes just inside the northern most door consistent with those missing from the victim," Det. Adam Haas wrote in a search warrant affidavit, filed in King County Superior Court, seattlepi.com reported.

Officers recovered a pink bra, the shoes and a strand of hair, and have taken DNA samples from two employees of the restaurant, seattlepi.com reported.
