KPD Blotter: $700 Cash Stolen as Market Vendor Packs Up

Other cases include a known burglar getting pinched for stealing beer, a man arrested for assault after his grandfather tells him to get out of the shower and a soft air gun shooting.

The following are selected reports from the for the period of Sept. 16-21.

Sept. 16

  • Police confiscated a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue, needle-nose pliers and heavy bolt-cutters when they arrested a 41-year-old Redmond man for theft, after he allegedly tried to shoplift a root beer and Heineken Keg beer from the Kingsgate on 124th Avenue NE. He had been detained by store security, confessed his intent to steal, and police discovered multiple prior arrests for burglary. He was also charged with possession of burglary tools and drug paraphernalia. It happened at about 2:50 in the afternoon.


Sept. 17

  • Police arrested on a charge of fourth-degree assault a 21-year-old Kirkland man after he allegedly pushed his 66-year-old grandfather to the ground and then knocked over a motor scooter at a North Rose Hill residence on NE 97th Street. Apparently the the man was angry that his grandfather told him to get out of the shower after 45 minutes. The incident took place at about 8:30 in the morning.

  • A 32-year-old Snohomish woman reported that someone stole her iPod and wallet, total value about $270, while she was working at about 11 p.m. at a location in the 700 block of 1st street in the Market neighborhood. She lost a debit card and two credit cards that were in her wallet.


Sept. 21

  • A 21-year-old Kirkland man was arrested on a charge of first-degree assault after allegedly stabbing a 25-year-old Kirkland man during a late-night incident in the parking lot of the Finn Hill on Juanita Drive. Police collected as evidence blood-stained sweat pants with a pen hole in the left groin area, along with a yellow plastic pen and four screwdrivers ranging from 4 to 8 inches long. A 21-year-old Kirkland woman was also involved and two Kirkland men ages 25 and 27 were listed as witnesses. The victim was taken to the the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Apprently the two men had experienced difficulties previously.
  • After leaving the Houghton 7-11 store on 6th Street South without paying for a bottle of Squirt and then and struggling to escape the cashier, a 20-year-old Kirkland woman was cited for shoplifting. She returned to the scene when police arrived, about half past midnight.
  • Three men from Bothell, Monroe and somewhere in King County, ages 17 and 18, were arrested on a charge of fourth-degree assault after allegedly shooting a 32-year-old Kirkland man in the hand with an air soft gun. The Kirkland man said he was riding his bicycle on the 10700 block of 126th Ave NE on north Rose Hill when he was approached at about 7:40 p.m. by a slow-moving car and shot by one of the three men inside. He apparently noted the license plate and police then found and stopped the car.
  • An envelope with $700 cash inside was stolen from a vendor at the Kirkland Wednesday Market on Park Lane downtown when the 65-year-old Seattle woman was packing up at the end of the event, about 7:30 p.m. She had left the envelope on some of her belongings, and apparently looked away. Police found no suspects, no leads.
