KPD Blotter: Library Pickpocket; Burglars Caught in Act

Other reports detail a restaurant break-in and theft of $800 cash, and $2,700 worth of tools stolen from construction site at Lake Washington High School.

The following are selected reports from the for the period of Dec. 11-14.

Dec. 11

  • Police arrested a 24-year-old Tacoma man just after midnight on Kirkland Avenue downtown after he allegedly punched a cab driver in the face and shoulder, then kicked the cab door shut when the driver attempted to get out to defend himself. The man, who had been accompanied by a 27-year-old Kirkland woman, was taken to the Kirkland Police Station for suspicion of assault and malicious mischief, the later for denting the cab door.


Dec. 12

  • Someone busted into the restaurant on 116th Ave. NE in the Totem Lake area around 3 a.m. and stole $800, an employee told police later that morning. No evidence was recovered.

  • A brown leather bag containing $10, credit cards, driver’s license and Social Security card was lifted from a 51-year-old Bellevue woman’s zipped coat pocket while she was using a computer at the . She told police her pocket was picked between 3 p.m. and 3:20 p.m.
  • A 32-year-old Kirkland man caused a disturbance at the NE 85th Street store on Rose Hill, and when police arrived they discovered an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for him from the King County Sheriff’s office. He was arrested and taken into custody for transfer.


Dec. 14

  • Allegedly interrupted while breaking into an apartment on the 11900 block of 93rd Lane in Juanita at about 2 p.m., a 21-year-old Bothell man and a 23-year-old Lynnwood man were arrested on burglary charges. Apparently someone spotted the pair in the act and police later located the suspects at two other spots in Juanita. They were arrested on charges of possession of burglary tools (eight items) possession of drug paraphernalia (a marijuana pipe), malicious mischief for forced entry and burglary. Evidence collected included a ring, a pair of earrings, 20 pieces of mail and latex gloves.
  • A resident of the 11700 bock of NE 102nd Place in Juanita reported that someone stole a package from the home between 3 p.m and 6 p.m. that parcel tracking showed had been been delivered on Dec. 14. Police found no leads or suspects.
  • Someone cut a padlock during the night to enter a construction trailer at on Rose Hill’s NE 80th Street, then stole a dirt compactor and concrete saw worth $2,700. Several buckets and a rake were also taken from the work site. Police have no leads, but did get serial numbers for the saw and compactor.
