KPD Blotter: Burlgar Drops Through Ceiling, Steals Cash, Gift Cards from Restaurant

In another case, a woman is arrested for assault after allegedly kicking her boyfriend out of bed and then smashing "anything in her path."

The following are selected case reports from the Kirkland Police Department for the period from Sept. 9-14.

Sept. 9

  • Called about a fight at in Kingsgate around half past midnight, police arrested a 22-year-old Kirkland man for assault. Witnesses and surveillance video showed the man was the primary aggressor and punched a 34-year-old Bothell man twice in the face.



Sept. 10

  • A 27-year-old man from Kent was arrested on a no-bail warrant for assault from that city after police found him sleeping in a car at 11:45 P.M. behind a tile store on 120th Ave NE in the Totem Lake area.
  • Four juveniles were spotted on surveillance video vandalizing signs at the Astronics Corp. on Willows Road east of the Totem Lake area, then forcing their way into a barn on the property and damaging windows, a clock and a computer monitor. It happened between 10 and 11 a.m.

  • An 18-year-old Edmonds woman told police that someone stole her T-Mobile 4G smart phone while her purse was checked at Club K-Town in Lakeshore Plaza downtown between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m.
  • A burglar who entered a storage room at about 11:30 p.m., climbed a ladder and dropped though ceiling tiles stole $1,400 worth of cash and gift cards from the on 116th Ave in the Totem Lake area. Police could find no leads.
  • Caught on video surveillance stealing tips from tables at the Totem Lake at about 9 in the morning, a 24-year-old Kirkland man was arrested for third-degree theft. The man reportedly took about $18 and confessed to police.
  • A 43-year-old Kirkland woman called police to report that the night before while she was at on Kirkland Avenue downtown, her boyfriend’s 53-year-old ex-wife approached her and grabbed her around the neck. It hurt, she said, but left no visible injuries and the incident was quickly broken up by her boyfriend and tavern staff. She didn’t want to press charges, but wanted to document the incident. Police advised her on how she could obtain a restraining order.


Sept. 12

  • A 46-year-old woman reported that during daytime work hours, someone entered her residence on 130th Way in the Totem Lake area through an unlocked front door and stole an XBOX, Wii console, kitchen table, end tables and bar stools. Police were able to take some fingerprints.

  • Police assisted fire and emergency units in rescuing a 4-year-old girl who had been left unattended in a vehicle, got out and fell off an 8-foot wall onto the roof of a business in the 100 block of Central Way downtown. It happened just after 7 p.m. The girl, who was taken to with facial inhjuries, and apparently her 28-year-old mother, are from Duvall. A 57-year-old woman from Duvall was also involved, as well as a 19-year-old witness from Kenmore.


Sept. 14

  • After physically kicking her 43-year-old boyfriend out of bed just before midnight and then walking through his house on 132nd Street in Kingsgate breaking a water cooler, dishes and “nearly everything in her path,” a 39-year-old woman was arrested for fourth degree assault. The woman, who has been in a relationship with the man for three years, lives nearby on 141st Way.
  • Someone came in the unlocked sliding door of a ground-floor apartment on 120th Ave NE in the Bridle Trails area and stole $500 cash, diamond stud earrings, a diamond pennant on a white gold chain, a lock box with a passport inside, a Play Station, XBOX and Wii video game consoles, other electronics and a watch. It happened between 3-6 p.m., and the main victims were two men, 23 and 26 years old.
