KPD Blotter: Jealous, Reckless Boyfriend Arrested for DUI after Disturbance

In other cases, a couple was arrested for punching, kicking and biting a woman four months pregnant and two burglaries were reported on Finn Hill.

 

The following are selected reports from the Kirkland Police Department for the period of May 4-9. The reports do not indicate a conviction.

May 4

  • An 86-year-old female resident of 68th Place NE on Finn Hill heard a noise at about 5:40 a.m. and found an unknown man standing in her garage, who fled in a dark-colored pickup truck. The victim is legally blind and could not provide a description of the suspect, but she discovered her 55-inch television missing. Police noted on the report that the victim first called a medical/emergency alarm service for seniors to report the incident, resulting in a significant delay in their response. No fingerprints were found.

  • A 29-year-old Juanita man who mistakenly thought another man was arriving to sleep with his girlfriend was arrested for driving under the influence after cursing and making several reckless high-speed passes in his Lexus SUV at the victim. Police responded to reports of the disturbance at about 2 a.m., apparently at an apartment complex off 100th Avenue in north Juanita. The victim, a 33-year-old Kirkland man, declined to press charges for the high-speed passes, saying he was satisfied that the suspect was arrested for DUI. The suspect refused to take a field test for blood alcohol levels, but two hours later tested at .096, well above the legal limit.


May 7

  • After allegedly kicking, biting and punching a pregnant 29-year-old Kirkland woman, apparently at or outside a bar on 124th in the Totem Lake area, two other Kirkland residents were arrested for assault. The victim, four months pregnant, was not seriously injured, but police took her to as a precaution. Arrested were a 22-year-old Kirkland man and a 20-year-old Kirkland woman, who was also charged with being a minor in possession of alcohol. A blood alcohol test on the 20-year-old woman read .165. The incident occurred just after 10 p.m.
  • A neighbor reported seeing a white man about 5-foot-10, 200 pounds, carrying the victim’s saxophone into a white Ford Explorer with gold stripes after a burglary at a residence on Finn Hill’s 91st Place. The burglary happened at about 2:15 p.m., the thief gaining entry by breaking a back window. The victims were a couple aged 32 and 36 and lost silver, gold, diamond, pearl and ruby jewelry, cell phones, an iPod Touch and the sax.


May 8

  • The 26-year-old ex-girlfriend of a 32-year-old male Kingsgate resident (NE 141st Street) was arrested for taking his vehicle during the night without permission and using his credit card to order four sausage egg muffins at McDonald’s. While police were at the victim’s home at about 5:30 a.m., the woman, a Woodinville resident, returned with the vehicle. She was taken into custody for possession of stolen property and taking the car without permission.
  • Someone stole an engine turbocharger from a bus and a  trailer winch at sometime between May 1-8, campus staff reported to police. The turbocharger and winch were worth $1,500 and $500 respectively, but damage to the bus engine could be as high as $20,000. No security footage was available and there are no suspects.
  • A check was stolen from a mailbox at a residence on 121st Place in Juanita, then altered and cashed for $50, the 39-year-old male resident told police. The theft occurred sometime between April 20 and May 8.
  • Police arrested a 20-year-old Bellevue woman on a warrant for prostitution from Renton during a walk-through at the on 120th Place in the Totem Lake area. She was taken into custody at about 12:45 a.m.
  • A 21-year-old Redmond man was arrested on a warrant out of that city for possession of a dangerous weapon after a resident on NE 80th Place on Rose Hill reported at about 10:20 p.m. two suspicious occupied vehicles that didn’t belong in the neighborhood. The man was taken into custody and transferred to a Redmond officer.


May 9

  • A large rock was thrown through the passenger side front window of an SUV parked at a residence on 122nd Ave near on Rose Hill. The victim was a 43-year-old man. Nothing was reported as missing from the vehicle and police listed the incident as a malicious mischief case. A passerby reported the broken window to police just after noon.
