KPD Blotter: Man Snorts Smoke Shop Substance and Freaks Out

In other cases, a woman's car was duct-taped, plastic-wrapped and had pennies glued to it, and a father confronted a teen riding his fourth-grade son's stolen bike.

 

The following are selected reports from the Kirkland Police Department for the period of June 8-12. The reports do not indicate a conviction.

June 8

  • Burglars stole a Canon digital SLR camera and an amethyst necklace after breaking open the front door of a Finn Hill home on 69th Avenue sometime between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. The victim was a 50-year-old woman.

  • A vehicle belonging to a 51-year-old woman who lives on 107th Avenue in north Juanita was duct-taped, wrapped in plastic and had pennies and paper glued to it some time overnight. The vehicle was parked in front of the woman’s home. Police were unable to discover who the vandals might be.


June 11

  • A 53-year-old Finn Hill father confronted a teenager riding a bicycle allegedly stolen a few days earlier from that belonged to the man’s fourth-grade son. The teen told the man he was younger than 18 and if the man hit him, he would go to jail. No violence occurred, however, and the bike was recovered. Police were called by another individual, a 40-year-old Bothell man, so the case would be documented.


June 12

  • A 31-year-old Juanita man was caught trying to leave the north Juanita Safeway without paying for a bottle of Maker’s Mark whiskey and packages of plastic forks and plates. He tried to run after he was detained by store staff at about 9:35 p.m. but did not escape. Police arrived and arrested him on a third-degree theft charge, and after being read his rights, he confessed.
  • After snorting an unknown white powder substance called “Charge” that he obtained at a Kirkland smoke shop, a 33-year-old resident of 98th Avenue in Juanita became paranoid and agitated. Police were called and the man was taken to for evaluation at about 7:15 p.m. The report listed the substance as a synthetic cocaine.
