KPD Blotter: Man Threatens to Kill Cop After Arrest on $10,000 Assault Warrant

Other police reports include a Finn Hill woman alleging her boyfriend injected her with heroin while she slept, two cases of guns being pointed and three assault arrests after a major disturbance in Houghton.

 

The following are selected reports from the Kirkland Police Department for the period of May 14-23. The reports do not indicate a conviction.

May 14

  • An unknown individual attempted to obtain credit cards from five different banks using the name of a 76-year-old man who lives on Third Avenue near downtown. The fraud occurred sometime between May 14-21. Police have no suspects.

  • After multiple complaints about aggressive panhandling and for refusing to leave the QFC store on Juanita Drive, a Kenmore couple, 56 and 57 years old, were sent away by police and advised they would be trespassing if they returned. It happened at about 5 p.m.
  • Police found no weapon after they were called by a 37-year-old Kirkland man, who said a 28-year-old Snohomish man had pointed a gun at him in a threatening manner during a road rage incident on Totem Lake Boulevard. The suspect was initially uncooperative, but no gun was found. It happened at about 6:20 p.m.


May 19

  • The front door of a home on 103rd Avenue NE in Juanita was damaged in an apparently unsuccessful burglary attempt during the day, the 52-year-old male resident told police.

  • After pointing a shotgun loaded with buckshot at a 33-year-old Lake Forest Park man just before 1 a.m. near his NE 136th Place residence in the Kingsgate area, a 58-year-old man was arrested on a weapons violation charge. The report provided no other details.
  • A 20-year-old man and two women 19 and 41, were arrested on suspicion of assaulting two men, 29 and 30 on the 1040 block of NE 68th in Houghton after quite a fracas. A 17-year-old juvenile female was also taken into custody. All of the suspects and victims were Kirkland residents, and the disturbance at about 9:40 p.m. was witnessed by four other people, three from Kirkland and one from Compton, Calif. The suspects were also arrested on charges of resisting arrest and assaulting an officer.
  • A silver ring with a jade stone and a gold bracelet were taken when a burglar broke into a 71-year-old woman’s Bridle Trails area house on 116th Avenue between 5 p.m. and 10:42 p.m.


May 21

  • Apparently nothing was taken, but a 34-year-old woman who lives in 126th Avenue NE in the Kingsgate area told police just before 4 p.m. that she found her back window pried open.


May 23

  • A 48-year-old Bellevue man contacted for yelling outside a Main Street bank downtown allegedly threatened to return to Kirkland and kill the arresting officer when he taken into custody on a $10,000 warrant for assault out of Seattle. He was picked up at about 2 p.m. and taken to meet a Seattle Police Department officer. The man was entered in the Washington Crime Information Center data bank as an “officer safety alert.”
  • Police investigated an assault claim from a 34-year-old Kirkland woman who said she believed her 27-year-old boyfriend from Bothell had injected her with heroin while she slept at her 81st Avenue home on Finn Hill. She reported the alleged assault just after noon on May 23, and said it occurred on May 6. The report indicated that that “solvability factors” were not met.
  • Observed assaulting a 39-year-old Kirkland man, a 21-year-old Kingsgate man took off running when police approached the scene. He was captured after a brief chase on foot. He was taken into custody at about 10:30 p.m. on suspicion of assault, obstructing an officer and making false or misleading statements to an officer. The incident occurred on NE 130th Way in the Totem Lake area.
  • Sometime between 10 p.m. and midnight a thief came in through an unlocked garage door and then into an unlocked house on NE 123rd Street in Juanita and stole a gym bag with shoes and clothes and a cellphone. The victim was a 52-year-old man.
