KPD REPORTS: Burglary Suspects Charged After Fleeing Scene

Cops also arrest a woman who failed to stop and an Oregan man who refused to pay for a taxi, and cite a woman after a fight with her neighbor.

The following are selected reports from the Kirkland Police Department for May 13-16.

May 13

  • Police filed charges of burglary, theft, possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license against a 24-year-old Seattle man and a 26-year-old Renton woman after a resident allegedly came home to find them on his 5th Avenue property attempting to steal a generator. The Seattle man left the scene in his car recklessly, leaving the woman, who then fled on foot. Clyde Hill Police later apprehended the two driving on SR 520.
  • A 23-year-old man from Mukilteo and a 34-year-old Kirkland man were cited for disorderly conduct and released after they were found fighting near the downtown intersection of Kirkland Ave and Lake St. just after 2 a.m.

  •  Employees at a Lake Street bar downtown told police a 43-year-old Kirkland woman arrived drunk and did not pay for anything, but the woman reported that her wallet had been stolen while she was there. She said she lost a bottle of prescription anti-depressants, her driver’s license and a credit card, in addition to the wallet.
  • Four Kirkland guys 19 to 25 were issued trespass warnings after they were thrown out of a bar on 120th Avenue NE in the Totem Lake area and then pepper-sprayed by store security staff. The four responded by throwing bottles at the staff and tavern. But the staff declined to press charges.

May 15

  • After failing to pay for a taxi and an altercation with the taxi driver, a 30-year-old man from Grants Pass, Ore., was arrested on NE 85th on Rose Hill for theft and assault. He was also charged with making a false statement after providing a false name to police.
  • A 26-year-old Beaverton, Ore., man called police to report that someone stole his jacket, cell phone and cars keys while he was at a tavern on Central Way downtown.
  • Two neighbors on 116th street in Juanita got into a dispute, and one of them, 33 years old, was cited for assault against the other, 43. The victim said the other woman punched her, pulled her hair and scratched her hand. The alleged assailant refused to come to the door to talk to police, but was left with the citation. 

May 16

  • Police arrested a 30-year old woman at her home on NE 116th in Juanita after she failed to stop when an officer tried to pull her over while driving southbound on Interstate 405 between the NE 70th and NE 85th exits. She was charged with failing to obey a police officer and driving without a license.
