KPD REPORTS: Cops Deal With Overdose, Fight, Theft and Drugs

K-9 unit gives positive responses while assisting Bellevue police in search of car.

The following are selected reports from the Kirkland Police Department for the period of April 29 to May 4.

April 29

  • Apparently observed smoking marijuana with a friend in a car parked near Marina Park downtown, a 25-year-old Renton man was issued a misdemeanor citation for drug possession. Police confiscated a glass pipe and 3.5 grams of pot.

May 1

  • The Kirkland Police K-9 unit assisted Bellevue Police in searching a car in the downtown area of Bellevue, and the dog gave positive responses on all four of the vehicle doors, apparently for drugs. Bellevue police took the vehicle as evidence and planned to obtain a search warrant.
  • After allegedly walking out of a Bridle Trails area hardware store carrying a fire pit without paying, a 27-year-old Kirkland man was arrested for shoplifting. A store employee had confronted the man while he was loading the portable pit in his truck.
  • Two suspected tablets of oxycodone were found on a 38-year-old Kirkland man after he was arrested in the parking lot of a motel in the Totem Lake are for violating a no-contact order issued to his 31-year-old girlfriend from Kent.

May 2

  • A 38-year-old Kirkland man was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant out of Seattle after he was observed stumbling along Central Way downtown. He also had a misdemeanor warrant outstanding from Medina. He was tested for blood alcohol content and blew a .416. He was taken to Evergreen Hospital, where he was to be picked up by Medina police.
  • A water bottle thrown from a red vehicle filled with unknown males hit a 20-year-old female Bellevue student in the back of the head outside a school on 108th Avenue Northeast in Houghton. She was not injured.

May 3

  • Police arrested a 42-year-old Kirkland man for violating a no-contact order after he picked up the 37-year-old female subject of the order two blocks away from the Kirkland Municipal Court in the Totem Lake area. He had just left the court after unsuccessfully petitioning to have the order lifted.
  • After causing a disturbance at a Juanita tavern the night before, a 44-year-old Kirkland man told police that someone stole his cell phone and wallet when he went to the bar’s restroom. He said he lost $40, a debit card, a credit card and a coffee shop gift card worth $25β€”plus the phone, for a total value of about $165.

May 4

  • A 31-year-old woman from King County was issued a citation for fourth-degree assault after she and a 38-year-old King County woman got in a fight near Kirkland Junior High in the Norkirk neighborhood. They apparently were feuding over a parking dispute that had occurred six weeks before.
  • Police assisted an emergency crew from the Kirkland Fire Department in reviving an 18-year-old Kirkland woman who had overdosed on heroin, apparently at a residence in the Totem Lake area.Β  She was taken to Evergreen Hospital.
