Mayor Proclaims Fire Prevention Week

The city is asking residents to spend some time Oct. 9-15 checking smoke detectors, practicing a home escape plan and checking for hazards.

Following the president’s lead, has proclaimed next week, Oct. 9-15, as Fire Prevention Week.

Every year the president of the United States signs a proclamation for a week of fire prevention, and this year’s theme is “Protect Your Family From Fire.”

Mayor McBride’s proclamation during the City Council meeting Tuesday urges Kirkland residents to prepare and practice a home escape plan, check smoke detectors and change batteries if necessary, and check around the house to find and eliminate fire hazards.
