Memorial for Murdered Woodinville Teacher Jan. 21

A memorial for Woodinville High School English teacher Prudence Hockley is scheduled for Jan. 21, at 6:30 p.m., at the Center For Urban Horticulture. Hockley died Christmas Day from an attack on Christmas Eve.

A memorial service for Woodinville High School English teacher Prudence Hockley is scheduled for Jan. 21, 6:30 p.m., at the University of Washington's Center For Urban Horticulture in Seattle.

An acquaintance of Hockley's, body-builder Johnnie Lee Wiggins, is in custody and charged with murder. He is expected to be arraigned Jan. 12 at the King County Courthouse in Seattle. Prosecutors claim Wiggins beat Hockley outside her home and left her laying on the ground. Her 13-year-old daughter went outside and found her mother unconscious on the ground at the side of the house, and saw Wiggins walking to his car.

In lieu of flowers for the memorial, the family prefers a donation to a memorial fund set up to help the family with funeral costs and education expenses for Hockley's youngest daughter, according to a post on the Woodinville High School website.
