Sixteen-Year-Old Male Pedestrian Hit by Car in Houghton

A 16-year-old male pedestrian was hit by a car Thursday morning on 108th Avenue in Houghton near , according to Kirkland Police.

The young man was alert, moving and speaking with an aid crew before being taken to a hospital emergency room. But a Kirkland Police Department press release said the extent of his injuries is not known.

Witnesses said it appeared the youth entered the roadway suddenly and was not in a crosswalk, and that the driver involved could not stop in time to avoid him. The incident occurred at about 8 a.m. some 75 feet south of a marked crosswalk, along 108th Avenue near NE 53rd. The vehicle was southbound on 108th, and witnesses said it was either at or below the 30 mph speed limit, according to the press release.
