Police Investigate Attempted Abduction at Crossroads Mall

Bellevue Police report a Hispanic man in his 40s attempted to abduct a young woman from a sidewalk near Crossroads Mall in Bellevue.

are investigating reports of an attempted abduction Saturday afternoon from a sidewalk near Crossroads Mall.

Police say a woman who works at in was approached by a Hispanic man in his 40s as she walked on the sidewalk on the 800 block of 160th Ave NE near restaurant, just east of the mall.

Bellevue Police spokewoman Carla Iafrate said the man pulled over in a dark green Geo Metro and called out to her, but she kept walking.

"He said, 'hey I'll give you a ride, get in my car,' but the woman said no," Iafrate said.

The man reportedly got out of his car, grabbed her and tried to get her inside the car, but the woman broke free. According to KOMO News, the man also appeared intoxicated.

The suspect then left the area and the woman reported the incident to her co-workers, who contacted police.

Bellevue Police received the call at 2:12 p.m. and arrived minutes later, but were unable to locate the suspect or his vehicle, which the woman described as an "older, beater car" but was unable to get a license plate number.

Bellevue Police describe the suspect as a heavy-set hispanic male in his 40s with a buzz-cut type hairstyle, and wearing a white T-shirt and jeans.
