Remains Found at Saint Edward Park ID'd as Man Missing Since 2006

The man was from the Finn Hill area of Kirkland and 46 when he disappeared. He was known to have been depressed over personal issues.

The human remains found off a trail in Saint Edward State Park last Friday have been identified as those of a 46-year-old Finn Hill man who disappeared in April of 2006, the King County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.

Brian McDonald was last seen on April 4, 2006, after dropping off his daughter at school, and he was known to have been depressed over personal issues, said Sgt. Cindi West, Sheriff Office spokeswoman.

No cause of death has been released yet by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, but West said the remains showed “no sign of trauma” or foul play.

McDonald lived on Finn Hill not far from the park at the time of his disappearance. His family has been notified, West said.

The remains, primarily bones that had been there for an extended period, were discovered by Bastyr University students Friday just off a trail in the 316-acre park, not far from the school’s campus. Authorities recovered most of the reamins on Friday and continued their search for evidence on Saturday.

Saint Edward State Park is on Finn Hill and mostly in Kenmore, but with a small southern strip inside the city limits of Kirkland. Bastyr University is adjacent the park's southwest section.
