Stolen Kirkland Vehicle Involved in Woodinville Crash

The vehicle involved in the one-car crash near Cottage Lake had been stolen from Kirkland, according to officials with the King County Sheriff's Office.

This story was reported and written by Lisa Baumann.

According to Woodinville Fire & Rescue, a single vehicle crashed into a tree at the 19800 block of NE Woodinville Duvall Road at 1:20 a.m.

Dispatch relayed that the vehicle, later determined to have been reported stolen, had collided with a tree and that the driver appeared to be drunk, according to King County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Cindi West.

The driver and any passengers, (West said it's unknown if or how many other than the driver were in the car,) had fled the scene prior to the arrival of authorities. A witness reported that a person who fled from the car was injured with a large cut to his chin.

A search at that time yielded no suspects, and raised concerns from neighbors in the Cottage Lake area.

Around 8:15 a.m. authorities received a call about a man sleeping in the bed of a truck in the 19800 block of  NE 174th Street. When Sheriff's officers arrived, they said the man wasn't sleeping and didn't have permission to sleep in the truck. In addition to fitting the description of the suspect who ran from the crashed vehicle, he also had a large cut on his chin, West said.
