Thefts are Reminders to Lock Cars, Garages: KPD Blotter

Several motor vehicle prowls and thefts from unlocked garages highlight the need to lock everything up.

The following incidents are selected from Kirkland Police Reports; where an arrest is noted, it does not indicate a conviction.

March 6

  • A Caribbean Casino visitor reported to police that a man was blocking her parking stall with his back turned as she tried to leave the casino. When she honked, he turned around and punched her hood before his friends dragged him away.

  • A 20-year-old Kirkland man was cited for Domestic Violence Assault 4 after he shoved his father, threw beer in his face, and broke a t.v. remote against a wall.
  • Band speaker equipment was stolen from an unlocked garage on the 12100 block of NE 73rd St.
  • A Kirkland resident reported that someone entered her unlocked garage and entered her unocked car, stealing her purple iPod Nano.
  • A resident of the 11800 block of NE 10th Court reported a vehicle prowl. Though the pickup was locked, there were no signs of forced entry. Two backpacks containing personal items and snowboarding gear were stolen.

March 11

  • A Kirkland resident reported his 2013 GMC Sierra was stolen from his driveway. The car was located, unoccupied, in Bellevue by OnStar tracking. The car had a spare key in the glove box, leading police to believe the theft might have occurred during a vehicle prowl.
  • A car was vandalized while parked in the Kirkland parking garage, with its windshield broken.
