Two-Crash Car After Banner Bank Robbery, Short Pursuit

Two people were apprehended after a car crash that followed an alleged robbery at Banner Bank on Bel-Red Road Friday evening, and an attempted bank robbery in Kirkland.

Bellevue police apprehended two people after they sped away in a vehicle following an alleged bank robbery at Banner Bank Friday evening, the police department reported in a press release.

Around 6 p.m. Friday, police responded to a reported robbery at , 12443 Bel-Red Rd. Staff at the bank called to report that a man displayed a note demanding cash, and then fled with an undisclosed amount of currency, according to Bellevue police spokesman Officer Seth Tyler.

While Bellevue police officers were responding to the bank robbery, an officer located a possible suspect vehicle that had been reported to be involved in an attempted bank robbery in Kirkland minutes earlier, Tyler said.

Information on which bank in Kirkland was involved was not immediately available.

Officers attempted to stop the car, but the driver refused to stop and led police on a short pursuit, according to Tyler.

During the course of the pursuit, the driver struck two other vehicles, Bellevue police reported.

After the second crash, the vehicle stopped on the onramp to State Route 520 from NE 10th Street, where Bellevue police took the two into custody, according to the press release.

Both suspects and citizen in one of the cars that was struck were transported to Overlake Hospital Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, Bellevue police reported.

The suspects will be booked into King County jail upon their release from Overlake Hospital, according to police.

Bellevue police believe that the suspects that are in custody are responsible for both the attempted bank robbery in Kirkland as well as the bank robbery in Bellevue. The investigation continues.
