Voyeurism Reports in Bothell Library Prompt Police to Seek Public's Help

In both incidents a male suspect was seen by Bothell library staff and witnesses entering the women's restroom and taking significant steps to view and/or record females using the toilets in women's restroom.

Bothell Police are seeking help from the public in a case involving a male watching and possibly recording women in the King County library downtown last week.

Two incidents of the voyeurism were reported on April 2 and 4 between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the King County Library Bothell Branch at 18215 98th Ave NE, according to a news release issued Wednesday by the Bothell Police Department. 

In both incidents a male suspect was seen by library staff and witnesses entering the women’s restroom and taking significant steps to view and/or record females using the toilets in women’s restroom, the news release said.

Witnesses describe the male suspect as having a dark complexion and possibly being of Asian or Hispanic descent, between 25 and 35 years old, 5 foot 6 inches to 6 feet in height and with a medium build.

Police have offered the following tips for staying safe at the library:

  • Those who come into contact with the above described individual and others engaged in similar behavior are asked to call 911.
  • Adults who frequent the library with children are encouraged to accompany children to the restroom. 
  • Citizens using the restroom facility should be conscious of individuals whom may be hiding in bathroom stalls or not engaged in normal bathroom behavior.
  • Any reports of unusual behavior such as adults of the opposite sex entering the bathroom should be reported to the police and staff at the Bothell Library.
