The chase began when Bothell police attempted to pull over a stolen pickup truck in Bothell, and the driver refused to stop. He drove north to the Mill Creek area, entered a business parking lot in the 1500 block of 164th Street SE, where he hit another vehicle and backed into a Bothell police cruiser.

“Bothell police first spotted it and tried to initiate a traffic stop,” said Everett Police spokesman Aaron Snell. “It refused to stop.”

The suspect, a 33-year-old Seattle man who is likely facing multiple felony charges, according to Snell, then drove the pickup onto the Interstate 5 and north to Everett.

The pickup exited at SE Everett Mall Way and went northbound on Evergreen Way and and Rucker Avenue until it hit a car at Rucker and Pacific Avenue, flipped upside down and slid onto a sidewalk.

The crash pushed the other car onto its side and northbound on Rucker, and it also ruptured a natural gas line before stopping.

Firefighters had to physically move the car before they could extricate the woman, who was trapped inside. She was then taken to Harborview Medical Center with injuries believed to be life threatening.

The suspect was also injured and was arrested at the scene and taken to Providence Medical Center in Everett. His injuries were not life-threatening, and he is expected to be charted with multiple felonies.

A Puget Sound Energy crew repaired the ruptured gas line. Both vehicles were impounded, and Everett police continue to investigate the incident.
