AG Rob McKenna To Make Announcement in Bellevue Today

McKenna, a graduate of Sammamish High School, is expected to announce that he will run for governor, reported the Seattle Times.

State Attorney General Rob McKenna will make a major announcement today at 6:00 p.m. at Sammamish High School, his campaign committee reported Tuesday.

According to the Seattle Times, Republican Party sources have said that McKenna is expected to announce a 2012 bid for the governor's mansion. (Click here for the story.)

McKenna, who lives in Bellevue, has been in elected office since 1995, starting with the Metropolitan King County Council, and was elected to the Attorney General's office in 2004. Before becoming an elected official, he was an attorney at Perkins Coie, specializing in business and regulatory law.

In April, McKenna was the keynote speaker at a Tea Party-organized Tax Day demonstration at Bellevue City Hall.
