End of Drivers' Strike Means Regular Waste Pickup Friday

Residents missed on Wednesday will get full garbage, yard waste and recycle service on Saturday.

KIRKLAND, Wash. – The restoration of residential garbage, recycling, and yard waste services in Kirkland affected by the Teamsters’ Local 117 and 174 strike, , is underway.

  • Customers with regular Friday pickup will receive full garbage, recycling, and yard waste service today.  A double load will be collected at no additional cost.
  • Customers with regular Wednesday service will receive full garbage, recycling, and yard waste service on Saturday, August 4. A double load will be collected at no additional cost.
  • Customers that received garbage-only service on Thursday will have double loads of the recycling and yard waste picked up along with their garbage on their next regular service day (August 9).
  • The regular weekly collection schedule will resume on Monday.  Double loads from Monday and Tuesday customers will be collected on their respective regular collection days. 

 City solid waste customers are encouraged to stay informed on the progress of the strike recovery by visiting the WMI website at www.wmnorthwest.com/servicedelays.  Questions or concerns should be directed to WMI at 1-800-592-9995 or pnwrsservices@wm.com.
