Finn Hill Resident Challenging Asher for City Council

Scott Galbraith files with King County Elections, which means now all three Kirkland incumbents up for re-election face challengers.

A resident of the newly annexed area of Finn Hill on Friday filed papers with the  King County Elections agency to run against incumbent Dave Asher for the Kirkland City Council.

The filing by Scott Galbraith means that all three city council incumbents up for re-election this year face challengers.

Asher filed papers Monday to run again for his Position 6 seat, although he has not officially announced he is seeking re-election.

Galbraith confirmed that he filed Friday morning, but said he was not ready to say why or discuss issues. He lives in the Inglewood area of Finn Hill, at a residence that, until June 1  was in an unincorporated area of Bothell. With annexation, he is now a Kirkland resident.

On Thursday, Houghton resident Chuck Hinson filed papers to make the race for incumbent Bob Sternoff's Position 2  seat a three-way race. Jason Gardiner, a telecommunications architect from the newly annexed neighborhood of Kingsgate, filed Monday.

Incumbent Jessica Greenway, who announced in April that she would run again for Position 4, filed Monday, along with former state legislator Toby Nixon, who announced last month he would challenge Greenway.

Monday was the first day candidates could file for the 2011 King County primary on Aug. 16 and the general election Nov. 8.
