Kirkland Sets Open House, Invites Public Input on Waverly Beach Park

Stop by Waverly Beach Park Tuesday, Aug. 20, between 4 and 7 to share your suggestions for improvements at the park.

The following is a press release from the city of Kirkland:

The City of Kirkland Parks and Community Services Department invites citizens to offer ideas for improvements to Waverly Beach Park at a park Open House on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, between the hours of 4 and 7 p.m. The park is located at 633 Waverly Park Way. Citizens can drop by to meet with Kirkland Park Board members, parks staff, and design consultants to offer suggestions on priorities for park improvements. A renovation plan will be completed this fall, with a first phase of construction tentatively scheduled for fall of 2014. The project is funded in part by the 2012 Kirkland Parks Levy.

Waverly Beach Park is 2.75 acres and one of Kirkland’s oldest park facilities, with history dating back to the early 20th century. In 1932 the property was officially named City Park, but was renamed Waverly Park in 1955. On the shores of Lake Washington, Waverly Beach is a popular destination for Kirkland residents and features a swimming beach, pier, playground, picnicking amenities, restroom, and parking. Fishing and non-motorized boating are popular year-round activities in the park.
