Kirkland to Hold Public Meeting on Section 8 Regulation Jan. 23

Kirkland residents are invited to a discussion about a proposed ordinance that would prohibit landlords from refusing to rent to those using Section 8 rental vouchers.

Editor's Note: The following is an announcement by the City of Kirkland.

---

In November 2012, the Kirkland City Council considered a proposed ordinance prohibiting landlords from refusing to rent residential units based solely on a request by a rental applicant to use a Section 8 rental voucher to cover part of the rent.

The background materials provided to the Council for that meeting can be found on the City’s website at www.kirklandwa.gov (Select: “Watch City Council Meetings,” select November 7, 2012 meeting.)  The City Council asked staff to conduct further public outreach before bringing the issue back to them in early 2013.

You are invited to a public meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 to discuss the proposed ordinance.  The goal of the meeting is to share feedback the City has received and to hear if there are additional concerns that can be addressed in the ordinance before it is considered by the City Council in February.

  • What: Section 8 Nondiscrimination Stakeholders Meeting
  • When: Wednesday, January 23, 2013, 7:00 – 8:30 pm
  • Where: Kirkland City Hall, Peter Kirk Room, 123 5th Avenue, Kirkland, WA 98033

Hopelink's actions mandating Section 8 housing went too far. Sorry, you are off our list ofRead More organizations to support even though the support before was robust. City council listened to organized carpetbaggers and not the citizens they are sworn to represent. All that can be replaced need to go at the next election Hopelink needs to find folks to contribute who have not been done wrong by this organization.
