Dear Kirkland Residents,
As a past Chamber president and a local real estate broker with Keller Williams, I am encouraging all of you to consider voting for Proposition 2, the Levy for Kirkland Parks, in November. Kirkland has always been known for the water, parks, trails and green spaces. This levy ensures that the critical funding necessary for the Cross Kirkland Corridor and the Green Kirkland program is in place.
A City with great parks, trails and water provides a robust and vibrant lifestyle sought after by many. This is turn provides a fertile environment for some of our nation’s best companies who recognize how special it is.
The cross-corridor trail system, a part of this levy, when developed, will provide some relief for our traffic congestion by offering alternative commuting options many of our residents and employees. It offers the opportunity for home-to-work bike or pedestrian commutes, along with direct linkages to many of Kirkland’s schools, parks and business districts.
Having a first class park system comes with responsibility. They must be maintained in order to provide maximum return on investment and useful for future generations. This comes at a small price tag of about $5 a month for the average homeowner.
Kirkland is a vibrant, well loved, and well cared for city. Let us do our part to keep it that way.
Brenda Nunes, Kirkland
