Monday is a New Year Holiday; What's Closed in Kirkland

The holiday fell on Sunday, so some agencies and services will observe a holiday on Monday.

Happy New Year! Since Jan. 1 fell on a Sunday this year, the federal holiday is being observed Monday. Here is a list of what’s open and what's closed:

  • Garbage Pickup by Waste Management: Normal schedule this week.
  • United States Postal Service: closed Monday. No mail delivery that day.
  • Liquor store: The Houghton and north Juanita stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, but the Totem Lake location will be closed.
  • : All King County libraries will be closed Sunday, Jan. 1. They will be open normal hours on Monday.
  • : Closed Monday.
  • Schools: Both Lake Washington and Northshore school districts are on winter break. LWSD classes resume Tuesday, while Northshore students will be back in class on Wednesday.
