Patch's 2011 Elections Primer: What Is On Your Ballot for Tuesday's Election?

Here's a rundown of important races and issues for Tuesday's general election.

Kirkland voters on Tuesday will decide the fate of three City Council races and one King County Council race, as well as three initiatives, including one that would take the state out of the liquor business.

Two of the three city council races have become quite contentious; you can find profiles by clicking on the names below of each candidate.

  • Newcomer of Kingsgate is challenging incumbent of the Moss Bay neighborhood for the Postion 2 seat.
  • Former state legislator of Kingsgate is challenging incumbent of the Norkirk neighborhood for the Position 4 seat.
  • For Position 6, of Rose Hill will face of Lakeview on the ballot, but Hart has dropped out of the race because of an illness in his family.

The county council race has also become fraught with charges and counter-charges. of Mercer Island is challenging incumbent of Bellevue.

Of the three initiatives on the ballot, I-1183 has garnered the most attention and would close Washington state liquor stores and allow the sale of hard alcohol in regular stores. Find a Patch story .
