Plan Ahead for Kirkland July 4th Traffic Revisions

The city outlines the closures planned for this year's picnic, parade, and fireworks show, expected to draw 10,000 to downtown Kirkland.

Commuters should expect traffic delays due to the 4th of July Parade to be held on Thursday, July 4, 2013. The Lakeshore Parking Lot will be closed from 9:30 a.m. until approximately 11:00 p.m. The 4th of July Parade, Picnic, and Fireworks draw over 10,000 attendees.  Event website information is available at www.explorekirkland.com. The following roads will be closed and detours in place from 9:30 a.m. until the parade ends at approximately 1:30 p.m.:

  • 5th Avenue W from Waverly Way to Market Street
  • Waverly Way from 4th Street West to Market Street
  • 2nd & 3rd Street W from 5th Ave West to Waverly Way
  • Market Street from 7th Avenue to Central Way
  • Lake Avenue West
  • 1st Street from 3rd Avenue to Central Way
  • 2nd Place from 3rd Avenue to Central Way

Heading North

· From Central Way: Head north on 3rd Street, west on 7th Avenue, north on Market Street 

· From Lake Street South: Head east on 2nd Avenue South, north on State Street S, continue north on 3rd Street, west on 7th Avenue, north on Market Street 

Heading South

· From Central Way/NE 85th Street: Head south on 6th Street, west on Kirkland Way, continue west on Kirkland Avenue, south on State Street South, west on 2nd Avenue South, south on Lake Street South. 

· From Market Street: Head east on 7th Avenue, south on 6th Street, west on Kirkland Way, continue west on Kirkland Avenue, south on State Street South, west on 2nd Avenue South, south on Lake Street South. 

Fireworks Ban Reminder:  The sale, use, and discharge of private, consumer fireworks is banned in Kirkland City limits.  For more information, contact the Fire Marshal’s Office at 425-587-3650.
