Primary Results Official: It's Asher vs. Hart and Gardiner vs. Sternoff on Nov. 8

In two city council races, the field is now narrowed to Dave Asher vs. Jim Hart and Jason Gardiner vs. Bob Sternoff. In the King County Council District 6 race, incumbent Jane Hague will face Richard Mitchell.

King County has certified the results of the Aug. 16 primary election, and the final tally now officially narrows the field to two candidates in three key races for Kirkland voters in the Nov. 8 general election.

Newcomer of Kingsgate sustained his surprising lead in the primary vote for Kirkland City Council Position 2, taking 48.23 percent of the vote. He will take on incumbent of the Moss Bay neighborhood, who took 45.84 percent of the vote. Chuck Hinson, who had dropped out of the race before the primary, took 5.2 percent of the vote.

In the city council Position 6 race, incumbent of Rose Hill took 53.24 percent of the primary vote and will face of the Lakeview neighborhood, who took 25.05 percent of the vote. Missing the cut was Martin Morgan of Rose Hill, who took 21.1 percent of the vote.

Meantime, King County Council incumbent  took 37.9 percent of the vote for her District 6 seat and will face Mercer Island attorney , who took 30.1 percent of the vote.

Kirkland's John Creighton earned 24.30 percent of votes, while Patsy Bonincontri of Bellevue received 7.3 percent.

One other race for Kirkland City Council, Position 2, was not on the primary ballot because only two candidates ran. Incumbent  of the Norkirk neighborhood will face former state legislator  of Kingsgate in the Nov. 15 primary.

Voter turnout from District 6 was 37,748 -- or 31.1 percent of registered voters. Total voter turnout from King County was 338,255 -- 30.9 percent of registered voters.

The King County  has also be officially approved by voters with 69 percent voting yes on the measure.
