Reminder: King County Primary Ballots Due Tuesday

Kirkland voters will vote on the King County Parks Levy and the primary race for King County Executive.

Voters in Kirkland will help determine the fate of a King County parks levy intended to replace two expiring 2007 levy lid lifts.

The proposed six-year lid lift on Tuesday's primary ballot amounts to 18 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value, 8 cents more than the previous two levies of 5 cents each. If it passes, the new levy would result in an increase of by $26.31 for a home valued at $300,000.

Funds from the levy would be used to maintain the county's parks and trails and to expand the regional trail system. (More info on the levy can be found here.)

The measure requires a simple majority to pass.
