Seventeen Apply for Kirkland City Council Seat Vacated by Bob Sternoff

The seventeen citizens will be reviewed and interviewed on April 15 and 16, with the final selection made by majority vote of the council. Please share any information or thoughts you might have about the candidates.

 

Seventeen citizens have applied to be considered for appointment to the Kirkland City Council Position 2 seat recently vacated by the resignation of Bob Sternoff.

The deadline for applying was April 9 at 5 p.m. The appointment will be made by majority vote of the council, after two sessions of candidate reviews and interviews on April 15 and 16.

Here are the 15 applicants, with some background information on those known to Kirkland Patch.

  • Carol Buckingham, a professional engineer who serves as chair of the Central Houghton Neighborhood Association and as a representative on the Kirkland Economic Partnership, one of her areas of focus woud be transportation.
  • Cynthia Hudson, a Juanita resident who seeks to promote safety, education, health and wellness, protection of Kirkland’s natural resources and maintain a vibrant and original downtown.
  • Eric Martenson
  • Robert L. Style, frequent council critic particularly on budget issues from the Lakeview neighborhood.
  • Benjamin Wobker, operator of Lake Washington Physical Therapy downtown, active in the Kirkland Downtown Association and founder of the Kirkland Shamrock Run.
  • Jason Gardiner, 2011 city council candidate against Sternoff.
  • Shelley Kloba, Kirkland Park Board member and Washington State PTSA legislative director.

  • Jay Arnold, Kirkland Planning Commission member and Norkirk neighborhood resident.
  • Michelle Goerdel, president of Biz Loan Link, north Rose Hill resident, former Park Board and Transportation Commission member, former Kirkland Chamber of Commerce board member.
