Traffic Alert: Lane Closures on 6th Street Next Week

Portions of 6th Street will be closed at various time, including bike lanes, between Tuesday, June 25 and Friday, June 28 for trench work.

Editor's note: The following is a press release from the city of Kirkland.

Contractor crews working for the City of Kirkland will close a lane on 6th Street to begin trench excavation within the intersection at Kirkland Avenue next week to install underground utility pipes.  The 6th Street Sidewalk Project started June 10. It completes sidewalks along the east side of 6th Street South from Kirkland Avenue south to tie into the existing sidewalk, and along Kirkland Avenue where gaps currently exist.  Also, all crosswalk ramps within the limits of the project will be upgraded to meet requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and a new crosswalk across Kirkland Avenue will be installed.

Where:   Work will occur at the intersection of 6th Street South and Kirkland Avenue; traffic impacts are expected along Kirkland Avenue, and on 6th Street, north and south of the work zone.
