Back to School: Shopping for Supplies

What to buy and where to go.

It’s that time of year again for moms, dads and school-aged kids. Does anyone remember when Staples ran that back to school commercial with the father dancing down the aisles, tossing school supplies into the shopping cart while his two children glumly followed behind him? In a couple of weeks Kirkland kids will be going back to school.

And what will those students need for the new school year? Pencils, paper, rulers, crayons, glue, etc. To find a complete list of what the schools suggest for students, check out the following pages on the Lake Washington School District website. Most teachers also gratefully accept donations of boxes of Kleenex and hand sanitizer.

So where can you go for the best buys on school supplies? You don’t have to go far.

Target locations are in Woodinville and Redmond. in Kirkland has lots of school supplies. There are three Fred Meyer locations nearby, in , Bothell and Redmond. There are also three locations in Kirkland.

The first day of school for Lake Washington School District students is staggered this year due to the change in grade configurations, either Sept. 4 or 5. .

Hopelink's actions mandating Section 8 housing went too far. Sorry, you are off our list ofRead More organizations to support even though the support before was robust. City council listened to organized carpetbaggers and not the citizens they are sworn to represent. All that can be replaced need to go at the next election Hopelink needs to find folks to contribute who have not been done wrong by this organization.
