Cody Bernstein Scores Five Goals as LW Downs Skyline

Kangs lacrosse team takes sole possession of fourth place with 12-7 victory.

Cody Bernstein scored five goals as Lake Washington moved into sole possession of fourth place in the Northeast Conference with a 12-7 boys high school lacrosse win over Skyline Monday on the home field in Kirkland.

The win was the ninth of the season for the Kangs as they gained a half game on conference-leading Mercer Island, just three games back.

Lake Washington had top performances by Carson Brown with three goals and Jake Bernstein and Hank Schmale with two each. Jonah Friedl had 11 saves in goal. Skyline’s Ryan Benz let the Spartans with four goals, while Raymond Hess had eight ground balls and Cory Larson had 16 saves in goal.

Lake Washington (9-6-0) next faces Mercer Island (16-2-0) on Tuesday in an 8 p.m. start at Mercer Island High School. Skyline (10-8-0) next faces Issaquah (12-5-0) Wednesday at Issaquah High School.
