Finalists for the Lake Washington IT President's Job Announced

Lake Washington Institute of Technology's Board of Trustees announced five finalists for the President position.

Lake Washington Institute of Technology’s (LWIT) Board of Trustees this month announced five finalists for the LWIT President position.

The five finalist candidates are: Dr. Jerrilee Mosier, Chancellor, Ivy Tech Community College (Indiana); Dr. Richard Penny, Vice Chancellor for Advancement and External Relations, University of Washington Bothell; Amy Goings, Vice President of Operations and College Relations, Clover Park Technical College; Ivan Gorne, JD, Vice President for Students Services, Facilities and Operations, Bates Technical College; and Randall Lawrence, Superintendent/President, College of the Siskiyous (California).

LWIT will hold public sessions later this month where college, business and community members can meet the candidates, ask their own questions and provide the LWIT Board with feedback. The public sessions will take place the week of April 22 to 26 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. each day in room W305A & B. The schedule for the sessions is as follows:

April 22, Dr. Jerrilee Mosier;

About the candidates:

Dr. Jerrilee K. Mosier has served as Chancellor at Ivy Tech Community College-Northeast in Fort Wayne, Indiana, since 2010. Prior to her current position she served as the Vice President of Workforce Development and Training at Edmonds Community College in Lynnwood from 1998-2010. From 1992-1998 she served as Vice Provost of Academic Affairs at Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Dr. Mosier received a Bachelor’s in Special Education from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and a Master’s in Learning Disabilities from the University of Tulsa. She earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Oklahoma State University.

Dr. Richard Penny has served as Vice Chancellor for Advancement and External Relations at the University of Washington Bothell since 2008. Prior to his current position, he served as Interim Executive Director of Advancement at Seattle Community College District and Interim Executive Director at the Seattle Community College District Foundation from 2007-2008. From 2003-2007 he served as Executive Director of Fund Development at Seattle Community College and Executive Director at South Seattle Community College Foundation and South Seattle Community College. Dr. Penny received a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and a Master’s in Business Administration from City University in Seattle, Washington. He earned a PhD in Psychology and Neurobiology from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

Amy Goings has served as Vice President of Operations and College Relations at Clover Park Technical College in Lakewood, Washington, since 2009. Prior to her current position, she served as the college’s Vice President of College Relations and Resource Development from 2004-2009. From 1999-2004, she served as Director of Development and Government Relations at Bates Technical College in Tacoma, Washington. Goings received a Bachelor’s in History from Mills College in Oakland, California, and a Master’s in Public Administration from The Evergreen State College in Olympia. She is a doctoral candidate in Higher Education Administration at the University of Nebraska Lincoln.

Ivan L. Gorne, JD, has served as Vice President for Student Services, Facilities and Operations at Bates Technical College in Tacoma, Washington, since 2006. Prior to his current position he served as Vice President for Student Services at Highline Community College in Des Moines, Washington, from 2001-2006. From 1998-2001, he served as Vice President for Student Affairs and Professor at Southern Oregon University. Gorne received a Bachelor’s in Education and a Master’s in Education from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. He earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Puget Sound School of Law in Seattle, Washington.

Randall C. Lawrence has served as Superintendent/President at College of the Siskiyous in Weed, California, since 2008. Prior to his current position he served as the Vice President of Instruction at Olympic College in Bremerton from 2002-2008. From 1997-2002, he served the Dean for Social Sciences & Humanities at Olympic College. Lawrence received a Bachelor’s in Music, Composition, and Music Education from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon, and a Master’s in Choral Conducting from the University of Cincinnati. He is a doctoral candidate in Musicology at the University of Cincinnati.
