Juanita High Rebels Honor Two Steadfast Hoops Fans of 35 Years

Chuck and Lois Hennig, whose boys went to Juanita in the '70s, get a standing ovation from the crowd at a recent home game.

A Kirkland couple who have followed the Juanita High boys basketball team for 35 years -- since their own two boys went to the Kirkland school -- were honored at a home game last week and received a standing ovation from the crowd.

Chuck and Lois Henning have reportedly not missed a Rebels boys basketball game during that time -- their sons John and Paul graduated from Juanita in 1975 and ‘77 respectively.

The Hennings were asked to join Principal Gary Moed and Athletic Director Steve Juzeler for a special award during the annual Senior Night for basketball on Jan. 29.

They received a standing ovation while being presented a plaque and gifts honoring their dedication to Juanita.

“What a wonderful moment to honor Chuck and Lois,” aid Moed. “They represent what people love about Juanita – caring, commitment and community.”

Added AD Juzeler: “We were thrilled to be able to honor them for their years as dedicated Rebel supporters. Watching our student section, parent and family section, our Rebel basketball players and future Rebel players give them a standing ovation was truly a great moment that shows how we all support our Juanita community.”
