KALL Cancels Saturday Jamboree Due to Weather

Lee Johnson Field is likely to be a mess, so the Little League is calling off its season-opening festivities.

Kirkland American Little League has canceled its season-opening Celebration and Jamboree, which had been scheduled for Saturday at Peter Kirk Park's Lee Johnson Field, because of the weather, says league President John Rudolph. Another event will be scheduled for later this spring.

Here is the full announcement from KALL:

  • Saturday's Opening Day Celebration & Jamboree:
Out of respect for all of your schedules, as well as those of all our many league volunteers, Lakeview Choir members & Civil Air Patrol's Color Guard -- who all help make our opening day celebration a success each and every year...the opening day celebrations scheduled at Lee Johnson Field this Saturday and The Jamboree that was scheduled to start right after that - have both sadly been officially cancelled for this year, due to obvious weather issues.

While this is only the second such cancellation in very recent years, it's one that needs to be made to protect our fields, players, volunteers & family members.
Please check our website over the next few weeks, as we plan to replace this wonderful day for the kids - by having a Player & Fan Appreciation Day / event in April or May...when the weather is much more cooperative.
    Stay tuned........
  • Team formations, practice schedules, game schedules & uniforms:
All upper level teams ( ages 9 and up ) for both baseball and softball have been selected and are currently practicing, as weather allows. All lower level teams (ages 4-8 ) are just now being completed, and if you haven't heard from your team's manager or coach yet...you will shortly. You may want to go to our website and log-in through the parent log-in on the left nav bar, and if your player has been placed on a team...it will show you from there. Uniforms will be arriving over the next several days, and your team manager can help you with colors for socks, pants & belts if you plan on shopping early ( Jersey's & caps are provided ! by the league ) to get ready for your first game.

Thank you kindly for your patience & understanding as we try to get this 2012 season off the ground.
